Matt Mikula, CFP®, CDFA®
Partner & Wealth Advisor
Matt Mikula’s love of problem-solving and helping people is what first attracted him to the financial planning industry. While that continues to drive him today, building trusting client relationships and seeing people live a full life is what has become the most rewarding for him. Drawing on more than 20 years of wealth management experience, Matt helps his clients filter the constant “noise” about current events and market news to keep them focused on their personal goals and the best strategies to accomplish them. By educating his clients about their options, he helps give them confidence and peace of mind that they are heading in the right direction.
Matt is particularly adept at helping families affected by divorce transition to the next phase of their lives. He finds that parents are often so focused on making sure that their children manage through this difficult transition, they may overlook their own financial well-being. Matt projects out future cash flow needs to demonstrate how the division of marital assets will impact life following a divorce. By performing this type of planning earlier in the case, Matt can help his clients make better financial decisions for themselves throughout the process.
Matt appreciates the trust his clients’ place in him and is grateful to be in a position to have a positive impact in their lives. He credits his success in serving his clients’ needs to the support provided by the firm’s team-based environment. As a member of the firm’s Wealth Management Committee, he regularly collaborates with the other team members to come up with the best solution for each client based on the firm’s collective expertise.
After receiving his BA in Mathematics from Kenyon College, Matt earned a CFP® certification through DePaul University. Matt shares his insights in publications such as Financial Planning, Investment News and Dow Jones Newswire. He has also written articles for CCH Journal of Tax Practice Management, Divorce Magazine, and Inc.com. He continues to stay at the top of the financial planning field through memberships in the Financial Planning Association and the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts.
