Matt Foltz, CPA, CFP®, CEPA, MS in Accountancy

Associate Partner & Wealth Advisor

Matt joined the firm in 2015. Before this, he earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting at Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, where he also played baseball for four years.  His work there provided him the opportunity to obtain his Masters of Science in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame.  After graduating, he spent over three years in the tax department at a large public accounting firm. His work in tax compliance and planning for both businesses and individuals equipped him with a solid foundation as he transitioned to the firm.

In addition to serving clients as a member of the firm’s Wealth Management Committee, Matt sits on the firm’s Financial Planning Committee responsible for educating the team on financial planning topics and improving the team’s planning offering to clients. Matt’s tax background enables him to bring a different perspective to many planning situations and lead many of the firm’s tax-related initiatives. Matt is frequently featured as a panelist for client events and writes tax-related articles to provide clients with helpful tips to minimize tax obligations. He has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal and on WGN Radio to discuss tax planning and filing tips.

With his Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation, Matt has an in-depth knowledge in this area to help business owners think about critical issues related to their business, its eventual transition, and how the business affects their family’s overall financial plan.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with friends and family and watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

Matt is a Certified Public Accountant and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
